Don't forget that innovation isn't necessarily an invention. It can be anything new, like a method, and idea, etc... It can even be a new law!
Technological innovation will seem like the most obvious ones to choose since they're so easy. Although in my opinion, it's best to choose something that no one else would have. ;)
Cotton gin and camera have been done tons of times before, but I like the gunpowder one. There's tons of impact and change about that topic.
Music has evolved sooo much in the hundreds of years of its past. I'm sure you can find an innovation of a music style or something (like pop or rock 'n roll).

He inherited a strong, united well gelled team from Steve Waugh. He has now split it into too many groups, cracked it and de-gelled it.
He has let his personal whims rule the roost instead of team and country's interest. Lee was fully fit but he doesn't like him (it is a well known secret). So he dropped him saying that he is not fully fit. He took the team into the 5th oval test without a spinner and am really surprised that an experience guy like him came oue out to say that he has 'misread' the pitch.
When the debutant Trott walked in he should have attacked him with a suitable field but he chose to defend, so much so the youngster could score a valuable, morale boosting 41 runs.
He had negative frame of mind when he approached the crucial test of the series. Instead of winning it, he aimed only at drawing it. The saying is aim at the stars you will at least reach the tree top. He not even aimed at the tree top. So much so he went below the roots.
His arrogance is a shame on Australia and several of my Australian friends hav admitted it to me on several occasions.
The vandalism he has committed, had it be done by any player from any other country, ICC would have slapped a very heavy fine and that apart, he would have also been dropped by that country, simply because he has not conducted himself as a goodwill ambassador. Does he conducted him as a role model and an ambassador of goodwill for Australia? He proved that he is abase punk.

I am doing an I-Search paper for my English class and my original topic was paranormal. He told me to narrow it down. I have to do interviews and I want to be able to at least get 3. I already have one but I need 2 more and I need one of them to be an expert but I don't know who would be an expert. He recomended a minister or psychologist. Argumentative essay on death penalty?
have to do 3 pt thesis(sigh) essay on a topic with 1800 words.
I chose to be against the death penalty. The 3 points i have are inefficient court proceedings, wrongful convictions, and immorality.
for court proceedings:
I can elaborate on how the appeal system clogs the courts and wastes everyone's time
Refute the common argument that paying for someone to live a life in prison is expensive with the costs of these proceedings

for wrongful convictions:
I can explain in further detail why a wrongful conviction when someone's life is at stake is wrong
I can then get into prejudice, etc.

Remember not to rant.
Make sure the argument is well planned, organised and follows a naturally convincing order.
Establish some common ground between you and the reader...appeal to the reader's character and sense of reason. (' Like you, I too feel a sense of horror and repulsion at what is happening here but...' )
Don't be afraid to sneak in a made up personal anecdote to gain pathos...facts and figures don't have to be accurate...just believable. Presuming this is for an English class, you're going for writing effect not factual accuracy.
Remember for each point you are arguing for, state the opposite view to the stand that you are taking first, then undermine it with your argument.
Work in some technical effects...
1. Rhetorical question
Can we really expect the school to keep paying from its limited resources?
2. Emotive language
Imagine being cast out into the street, cold, lonely and frightened.
3. Parallel structures
To show kindness is praiseworthy; to show hatred is evil.

He became my best friend close friends since they have classes together and they have each others number so they text a lot. Compare heart rate when drinking different levels of caffeine. Measure heart rate before and after drinking cola, coffee, tea, etc. and compare. You can buy an inexpensive heart rate monitor at a drug store or ask your family doctor to help you with the experiment. If you know anyone that smokes you could perform the same experiment. You could also monitor breathing rate. Count the number of breaths per minute or per ten minutes before and after smoking a cigarette. I think this might work? You could also interview doctors/hospital workers about what patients they have seen who have used drugs and what effects they've had on the body? Hope this helps! :)

There's a guy in school - quiet, I dunno if he is shy or arrogant. I have a bad crush on him. I know he notices me too cos I caught him looking at me many times n maybe I am just noticing him too much but like he'll b holding the door but once I pass through it he would quit holding and leave and the few times when I dropped something he was the one who helped me too. We've never really talked but the few times I talked to him he always smiles at me (I noticed he never smiles, even at good jokes in class)

This is something i threw together yesterday on my day off from work. Im in the medical field hence the nature of my writing. The Bar was usually frequented by students. Today appeared no different with students milling about, enjoying each other’s company as well as the company of their intoxicating beverages.
A difference existed in the minds of the students, however. Today was the last day of their exams and it was due time for celebration. Some celebrated the end of another year and of the holidays that were to come. We celebrated the end of university itself, and the beginning of our hitherto hard-worked-for professional lives.
Tammy and I had arrived early enough (perhaps unnecessarily) to acquire our favourite table in the back end of the bar. It was quieter here – this likely due to the fact that the bars toilets were located within a close proximity. The stink didn't bother us. We had grown accustomed to such smells over the past few years. That same stink would assuredly have to linger with us for a few more years to come.
“He was supposed to be here when we arrived.” Tammy admonished sipping her bourbon and coke.
“It’s alright. Tomas has always been a late comer. Lectures, parties, funerals…you name it and he’ll be late for it.” I said smiling furtively.
“Well he’d best be on time for our wedding”
“Set a date yet?”
“No. Nothings confirmed. It’s not easy thinking about future wedding plans when you’ve got those damn final catechisms hanging over your head.”
“Well, those ‘catechisms’ are over for now” I said breathing my own sigh of relief. The final year medical exams weren’t the most difficult. Previously, I’d had to endure much more tiresome and trying exams - Anatomy being a prime example.
These exams had been more of a mental hurdle. Like the last few metres of a marathon when a runner knows he is close to the end of his heat, but not quite. One misplaced step at the end of his run, at his most critical juncture, could spell disaster.
“So? Are you going home for the holidays?” she asked, changing topic as she was apt to do.
“No. Not this year.” I didn’t actually have a home to go to – not a welcome home. “And you?” I asked, quickly turning the question around.
“Yeah... It’s expected yah know?”
“Yeah...” No. I didn’t ‘know’.
“She’s looking at you again”
“Who is?” I asked slightly puzzled. Tammy had suddenly changed topic yet again, catching me completely off guard.
“Madeline! Who else?” She laughed. I was facing Tammy and the toilet cubicles - blind to most of the interior of the bar.
I turned slowly. Behind me, the Bar and its patrons went about their business. On the far side of the room past dozens of students, stood Madeline. She was looking in our direction, holding a pool cue in one hand, no doubt waiting for her turn in an ongoing game of pool. She wore her usual black attire – black boots, black skirt, and a black blouse. Her dazzlingly red shoulder length curls of hair setting her alight.
“Oh.” I droned. Turning back to Tammy I took a large swig from the beer glass before me.
“She’s playing pool with Giuseppe.” Tammy chuckled. “You two have always had a thing going on haven’t you? What’s stopping the two of you from getting to know each other on a more intimate level?”
‘Me’ I silently thought to myself. “I think you’re imagining things Tammy.”
“Imagining? Everyone sees it Sean. If anyone’s imagining...”
“Hey guys” It was Tomas at last.
With relief I turned to Tomas and quickly changed the topic for my own benefit. “Where have you been pal? You can stop studying now you realise?”
“I’ll say” added Tammy “And you can also start paying more attention to your fiancé”
“Ha-Ha. Just been clearin’ my room out. It’s time to move on and all. Y’know?”

Nicely done for a first attempt! On the down side, I found there were way too many descriptives, especially in the first few sentences. To use an old writer's cliche, %26quot;show, don't tell%26quot;. Other then that, I'm not sure what your story line is because the excerpt is so short. On the positive, your dialogue flows very well and your characters interactions are good. Your excerpt is edited well (seriously, thanks for that!) and it is easy to read. Good luck and keep writing!

What are liberals so afraid of?
When faced with a truly outspoken (or truly entertaining) conservative opinion, I have noticed that Liberals often (always) try to silence the voice. Rarely do they take on the topic, ansering questions directly and presenting facts that back up the position. More often than not, they will resort to insults, irrelevance, and discrediting. When I thought I was a Liberal, I thought it was good debate, keeping the opponent on the ropes. After a while, I noticed that it was simply a good way to dismantle the debate. I realized, I can%26#039;t be proven wrong if I can sabotage the debate, but I also can%26#039;t be proven right. With this question, I expect the liberals out there to insult me, change topic, and blame me. I do NOT expect an honest answer.
What are liberals so afraid of?
Just because you can%26#039;t be proven right doesn%26#039;t mean that you can%26#039;t still bring out the wrongs in your oponent%26#039;s statements (not lifestyle, background, etc.). And how can you tell me that someone that is brave enough to go against the conservative/safe/popular opinion is afraid? The whole point is giving a voice to a topic that didn%26#039;t have one.
And speaking of dismatling debates, I noticed that you had no evidence to support any of your statements. I can%26#039;t even say that your paragraph is filled with fallacies, because it is only filled with YOUR OPINION. Try taking a polisci class or a debate class, then make arguments that you can support.

The Japanese should also own up to its crimes like the Nanjing Massacre in China, the killings of thousands of Phillipinos for resisting Japanese rule and the thousands of women forced to be prostitutes for Japanese militiamen. The Japanese government needs to stop whitewashing history and admit the atrocities they've incurred on other people. Just as it is rightful for Obama to assume ownership of the past, so too do the Japanese need to take steps forward in admitting their wrongful actions

For the past 6 months sex is constantly on my mind. I am 34 years old and the past year has been rough between my husband and myself. So, the basic premise here is that rather than trying to combat global warming by taking extensive and ubiquitious measures throughout the economy, ecosystems, and personal lives to curb CO2 emissions, methane emissions, and other greenhouse gases, that we simply look to permanent solutions to climate problems in the form of geoengineering. The fact of the matter is, we're equipped with abundant supplies of simple sets of gases that are well known to have global warming and global cooling effects. So why not just balance it out - build a global thermostat so we don't have to worry about having as small a footprint as possible, but rather simply be aware of it, and account for it?
This here's the kind of stuff that gets me interested :) Really, a big part of why I got into science and a central part of my current career is based in a fascination with nuclear fusion as a power source. That stemmed from frustration with what I saw as a widespread reaction to problems with current technologies to retreat from them - people didn't like carbon emissions or soot or nuclear waste, so the solution was a bizarrely Amish drive to run back to our windmills and solar mirrors, and try to hide humanity amongst nature out of fear that we'd leave a mark. Nuclear fusion is a forward-thinking solution, rather than a backward one - a new power source that's even more advanced and is simply engineered not to have those problems.
SO2 seeding strikes me as a similar idea with greenhouse gases. Rather than addressing the problem with a retreat that's not only technophobic and regressive but actually completely ineffective (if we're actually afraid of global warming, even a complete zero-carbon society wouldn't solve it - the carbon's already in the atmosphere, and it's got a several-century halflife. If we want to solve it, we have to REVERSE carbon emissions, not just reduce or even stop them). It's a way forward - it's a way to solve problems by mastering nature, not hiding from it, which is something that inherently strikes me as the way to go.

No offense, but this has to be one of the most retarded ideas of all time. SO2 (and SO3) is tightly regulated because it causes acid rain like it's going out of style. They had a lot of problems with acid rain in the earlier parts of the industrial revolution before they figured out what was going on and started regulating it.
Something you might look into is particulate matter (PM). It's still a pretty wild idea without the obvious drawbacks.

My background is math and in one differential calculus class we talked of systems of equations that are used to model just about anything from the spread of disease, the populations of predator/prey species to a buses shock absorbers. Anyway, the intial parameters are important. And slight variations can cause the models to collapse and end, become unstable and oscillate between one extreme and another, or to be in a balanced equilibrium state.
What you seek is a balanced equilibrium state. If you are sure this is possible and can model it without error then maybe you can save the atmosphere/ecosystem (if it actually needs saving). But if you err it may cause serious problem worse than the original problem. It's like playing God, as is having back surgery. Your back can self heal with excercise and stretching/massage better than any surgeon's scalpel.
God gave us trees, which naturally convert C02 to O2, and they are quite pretty to look at as well. :-) So why can we not plant more trees and let nature do it's thing? Well probably because we are actually cutting down more trees than we can re-plant, and then we use the land to live off of and and make food etc. The real problem is that there are too many people on the planet with too many needs. It is not nice to say but it is true.
So how do we limit the world's population without just killing off a bunch of us? Well one theory would be to bring the developing nations more up to our level through infrastructure help and education etc. and this will temper their breeding activites. [In fact in the developed world the breeding has gotten so low the only reason we can maintain a population level is to allow substantial immigration from those other countries.] I believe this is what is being discussed in Copenhagen right now. In reality I don't think we need a climate conference to tell us we should help poorer nations because it is our God given mandate to help those in need. But I seem to have veered wildy off course here. Maybe because it is 4AM.
Anyway, I think you are smart. And if you want to try compensetory measures with S02 then I think it could work. But just promise me you'll be careful. Double check those numbers! :-)
Well, in Australia scientists thought it would be a good idea to import cane toads to eat cane beetles, which were brought her with sugar cane (an imported crop).
It worked realy well. The toads ate all the beetles. Only thing, once the beetles were gone, the toads were still hungry and they are bigger and meaner than most native animals ...
Nowadays, many local governments pay a bounty on the toads because of the devastation they cause to the environment.
Nothing is simple in nature ~ we need to be careful it's not a case of the operation being successful but the patient dying.

Call me sceptical, but I don't think politicians care, just so long as they look good. Cutting Carbon would probably get them more votes than being smart and using science. People hate science, it makes them feel stoopid. I think global warming probably has some other political use i'm just ignorant to, like controlling developing nations.
Mastering nature is one thing, but playing with it is another. If this would really work, why not. But if you ruin the world. i want millions in compensation.
I would be more inclined to support investment in green technologies and carbon pricing in an effort to combat climate change. Your proposal makes a good last resort, though. I don't think any elected officials would be willing to publicly support it, and I dare say that trust for climate scientists is at an all-time low.

Why don't we focus on doing better things for the earth like biking/walking more, composting, having small gardens (yes, you can even garden in the city, people), eating local products, eating less meat, shutting down factory farming (one of the biggest polluters, even more so than cars)...

So, the basic premise here is that rather than trying to combat global warming by taking extensive and ubiquitious measures throughout the economy, ecosystems, and personal lives to curb CO2 emissions, methane emissions, and other greenhouse gases, that we simply look to permanent solutions to climate problems in the form of geoengineering. The fact of the matter is, we're equipped with abundant supplies of simple sets of gases that are well known to have global warming and global cooling effects. So why not just balance it out - build a global thermostat so we don't have to worry about having as small a footprint as possible, but rather simply be aware of it, and account for it?
This here's the kind of stuff that gets me interested :) Really, a big part of why I got into science and a central part of my current career is based in a fascination with nuclear fusion as a power source. That stemmed from frustration with what I saw as a widespread reaction to problems with current technologies to retreat from them - people didn't like carbon emissions or soot or nuclear waste, so the solution was a bizarrely Amish drive to run back to our windmills and solar mirrors, and try to hide humanity amongst nature out of fear that we'd leave a mark. Nuclear fusion is a forward-thinking solution, rather than a backward one - a new power source that's even more advanced and is simply engineered not to have those problems.
SO2 seeding strikes me as a similar idea with greenhouse gases. Rather than addressing the problem with a retreat that's not only technophobic and regressive but actually completely ineffective (if we're actually afraid of global warming, even a complete zero-carbon society wouldn't solve it - the carbon's already in the atmosphere, and it's got a several-century halflife. If we want to solve it, we have to REVERSE carbon emissions, not just reduce or even stop them). It's a way forward - it's a way to solve problems by mastering nature, not hiding from it, which is something that inherently strikes me as the way to go.

i doubt it will make much difference. The earth's climate has always changed and always will. i think the idea that humans can do much about it is a fantasy.

No offense, but this has to be one of the most retarded ideas of all time. SO2 (and SO3) is tightly regulated because it causes acid rain like it's going out of style. They had a lot of problems with acid rain in the earlier parts of the industrial revolution before they figured out what was going on and started regulating it.
Something you might look into is particulate matter (PM). It's still a pretty wild idea without the obvious drawbacks.

That does sound quite smart actually. But it is somewhat dangerous because you'd have to no exactly how much SO2 to use to balance the C02. You know when you are trying to cook something using a recipe but you accidentally add too much of one ingredient so you need to compensate by adding something else and then it comes out botched?
