Same but different: what an interesting topic. It must be hard for the young age but how about looking at the way sesame street used to do it with three of these things go together and one of these things

sqaure/triangle/rectangle.circle (straight shapes/round shape)

mustang/mini van/corvette....cement truck (personal/work)

wagon/car/tractor....wheel barrow (four wheels/three wheels)

play around with ideas of things that they have in their world

that they play with or eat or wear or places they go, rooms in their house, people they know (stranger danger can be worked in)

Good Luck and Have Fun what a wonderful age of learning.

Just off the top of my head - how about

BREAD! Rolls, sliced brown, white, toasted

or any food

PASTA - spaghetti, fettucine,linguine, lasagne

EGGS - boiled, poached, fried, omelette,

etc etc
same colour different shape?
What have you done so far??

But anyway, in this situation - whenever I'm stuck for anything to do - I ask the experts i.e. the children! They have much better ideas than we ever do.
How about standing a couple of the children side by side and pointing out the things that are the same, ie, two eyes, a nose, a mouth, two ears, that makes them the same, but one has blond hair, one has brown, one is wearing a t-shirt, etc, that makes them different.

If you have already done this I apologise, it's just we've done something similar at our school recently.
wow, thats a tough subject and although i have been in the field for over 15 yrs that is a tough one to do. i am not even sure if that topic is dev appropriate for that age group....i dont know if this site will help, but here is one of my favs...

Good luck
How about some cooking activities? Make some cookies or muffins or cupcakes together. Each child can decorate their own. Same cookies, but all will be different after they are decorated.
you all can do some cooking stuff! They would love to get dirty!
You should have given some ideas of what you have done in the past.

Hair - styles, length....pics from mags, newspapers, children's own drawn pictures

Noses - human and animals, again pics from mags etc
