Do you think my NHD topic is too plain?

I'm doing Thomas Edison's electric light. It was a great innovation, and this year's theme is Innovation in History.

I just feel that it seems like an obvious thing, and there'll be a lot of people doing it.

My other choices were jazz and the printer press.

Do you think I should change my topic [if I could]? Are my other choices better?

NHD is National History Day.

And if it matters, I wanna try a website this year (with Weebly). Which topic would best be presented through a website?
Do you think my NHD topic is too plain?
I can't answer all your questions, but maybe I can help you see just how significant the invention of the electric light truly was. An important point to remember, (and emphasize in a report), is that the electric light was a symbol of something far more compelling than just light without heat or fire. It represented man's control of something that had for all of history and prehistory previously fallen inside the realm of God, or the gods. It's difficult for someone who has grown up with electricity at his command to fully appreciate exactly how revolutionary the harnessing of electric power was. But use your imagination.

Consider your own life. Think about how big a part electricity plays in your own life; from the time you wake up in the morning, most likely to an electric alarm clock, to the time you turn off your light and go to bed. Just sit in any room in your house, even the bathroom and look around. How many things would not be there if there were no electricity? Now try to imagine the entire world without safe and reliable electricity. If you can do this, you can get a glimpse of exactly how tremendously significant are all the things that the humble electric light represents. Hope that helps.
