Can anyone help explain the US anti-dumping law? I'd like to know what you think of it and why.?

This is to help me with an international economics term paper that I am writing. Had to change topics last minute so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Anti-dumping strategies are a little outdated as far as purpose. If somebody wants to sell us stuff for less than cost why stop them? anti-dumping, generally, is only justified on grounds of not giving advantages to foreign producers. I think its a little paranoic and non-sensical. Those theories are a few decades too old from back in the day when the government was worried about foreign companies driving domestic industry out of business and then jacking up prices. In reality this is just a fairy tale that demagogues use because it is effective as a rethoric tool. It is just my opinion as an economist (it is not uninformed even though many people that may disagree with me will surely try to say I just don't know what Im talking about) and it is a point of view you could explore in your paper.
